Invisalign – the invisible brace that’s transforming smiles
Straight, even teeth help you look and feel great but many of us experience overcrowding, gaps, problems with bite and crooked teeth. Traditional braces with wires, metal or brackets leave some people feeling self-conscious and awkward which is why Invisalign is so invaluable. This new approach to teeth straightening is very different to traditional braces. It uses a series of clear removable aligners to straighten your teeth, little by little, in line with your individual 3D treatment plan. Better still, the clear aligners are almost invisible meaning that people won’t even realise that you’re wearing a brace.
The fact that Invisalign is an invisible brace is only the beginning of its benefits. Invisalign clear aligners are made from SmartTrack material and are trimmed to your exact individual gum line. This makes the aligners extremely comfortable and easy to put in and out – which is another great advantage as you remove Invisalign when you eat, brush and floss. That means you can carry on enjoying all the foods you like and stick to your normal dental hygiene routine.
Ultimately, Invisalign can transform your smile without disrupting your life. At The Orthodontic Studio in Rotherham, we have the experience and expertise to help you benefit from this ingenious invisible-brace system. We will prepare and plan your treatment meticulously to optimise results and guide you through the process step by step.
How the Invisalign treatment process works
As orthodontic specialists, we’re highly experienced in assessing our patients’ suitability for Invisalign. This first step involves taking impressions of your teeth and identifying potential issues such as acute gum disease or missing teeth. We’ll advise you openly and honestly if Invisalign is an appropriate treatment option. If it’s not, we’ll talk through other possibilities in full.
Making an informed decision is absolutely essential, so if you are suitable for Invisalign invisible braces, we’ll discuss potential results, length of treatment and what generally to expect. We’ll then take photographs, X-rays and digital scans. These will be used to create a bespoke ClinCheck® 3D treatment plan detailing exactly how your teeth will move over the treatment course until they reach their perfect position and how long treatment will take.
ClinCheck® technology also enables you to take a look at your new smile before treatment even begins. You can watch on one of our computer screens as ClinCheck® digitally maps your entire Invisalign journey from start to finish.
The invisible braces that are changed every 1 to 2 weeks
If you decide to go ahead with Invisalign, your aligners (invisible braces) will be custom made. You’ll replace each aligner every 2 weeks to help your teeth gradually move to their ultimate position. Some patients are suitable to change their aligners every week meaning quicker treatment times and results. At The Orthodontic Studio, our specialist orthodontists will advise on this before treatment begins.
We’ll also take the time to help you put your Invisalign aligners in and take them out. Invisible braces are easy to handle and use, but a little support will help you feel much more confident when you return home. It’s very important to maintain good oral hygiene during Invisalign treatment so we’ll talk through the best ways to brush and floss as well as how to clean your invisible braces. This is simple and straightforward as cleaning only involves regular rinsing and brushing in warm water. Soaking in Retainer Bride can also help to keep invisible braces super clean.
The Orthodontic Studio monitors your progress
We keep a close eye on your Invisalign treatment to make sure everything is going to plan. You’ll visit us every 6 to 8 weeks for new invisible braces and we’ll check teeth movement against your plan (there’s also a My Invisalign Smile app to compare your progress every time you change aligner). Results for Invisalign are extremely predictable due to the advanced nature of ClinCheck® technology and its digital visualisation plan. At the end of your treatment, we’re able to make any final adjustments to help you achieve your perfect smile. You’ll need to wear a retainer for the long term to maintain results. The Invisalign system uses Vivera retainers which are renowned for their strength, comfort and durability.
The health benefits of straighter teeth
Although Invisalign treatment is primarily used to boost your smile and confidence, it can also help to care for your dental health. Crooked and uneven teeth are more difficult to clean which can eventually lead to tooth decay, gum disease and bone loss. When you have your teeth straightened, the teeth are less vulnerable to wear and chipping. At the same time, correct alignment and positioning of teeth places less stress on the jaw muscles and aids chewing.
Invisalign is a discreet and highly predictable way to straighten teeth and achieve a confident smile. At The Orthodontic Clinic, we have everything in place to help you benefit from this innovative invisible treatment that’s worked effectively for millions of people.*
